AWTT INC. Hexprotect® floating cover system (patented) is the result of intense and extensive reasearch leading to a product which fulfills demands of an affordable and wind resistant floating cover for liquids.
It offers highly effective solutions to problematic liquid storage systems such as municipal and industrial wastewater, treatment processing plants, metal and petrochemical plants, leachate ponds, airports, raw water reservoirs and other applications for heat retention, photosynthesis prevention and or a wildlife deterrent.
The Hexprotect® hexagonal floating cover system ensures coverage of up to 99%. The resulting thermal insulation barrier combines the insulation factor of the air held in each tile with the poor heat conductivity of plastic. While the small air pockets between the tiles are not sealed, they also contribute to this insulation system, which dramatically reduces heat loss and light transfer. The cover also reduces liquid loss through evaporation and prevents odor problems.
The Hexprotect® floating cover, contrary to standard covers, does not represent an obstacle to static, moving or dipping equipment. The tiles can be easily pushed aside and the cover reforms itself as the basin and obstacles change configuration, as in a clarifier. In fact, the tiles will keep up with liquid level, rising, lowering and restacking themselves as needed.
The Hexprotect® floating covers are also an effective wildlife deterrent. When entirely covered, the body of water becomes unattractive to waterfowl and other wildlife such as deer. They simply don’t recognize it as water.
Compared to netting, Hexprotect® floating covers are not sensitive to ice or snow damage and do not require any kind of support.
As a response to numerous failures and poor performance of environmental closures at landfills, engineers have studied new approaches to establish a more physically stable and environmentally sound solution. Traditional landfills require large amounts of soil throughout their lifespan and are often lacking adequate soil to complete closure construction. Many of these landfills experience on-going erosion and sedimentation issues. Traditional covers are highly reliant on trucking soils, heavy civil construction, on-going maintenance and repairs in order to maintain their integrity. Introducing ClosureTurf®, an EPA, Subtitle D Compliant landfill closure solution that is specifically designed to address and solve soil erosion, slope integrity, gas emission, installation and maintenance cost control, EPA regulation compliance, and longevity of structure and appearance.
ClosureTurf is a patented, three component system comprised of a structured geomembrane, an engineered turf, and a specialized sand infill. The foundation of the system is an impermeable, highly transmissive structured geomembrane. It provides for the highest interface friction values available in the market. The engineered turf component gives the system its natural look and feel of grass while protecting the geomembrane from extreme weather conditions for the long term. The specialized sand infill component is placed between the blades of the engineered turf and allows the system to be trafficked while also providing additional protection from weathering. When required, ClosureTurf’s patented surficial gas system is included with the system to vent landfill gas emissions. ClosureTurf is fast and easy to install for an aesthetically pleasing, cost-effective landfill closure solution.
The components of the TensarTech Rockwall retaining gabion wall system have been specifically designed to work together for optimum efficiency and performance. Galfen coated welded wire cages, high strength polymer bodkin connectors, and Tensar uniaxial geogrids work together to form a reinforced soil and rockfill retaining wall system that meets or exceeds the industry standard. Tensar’s experienced engineers, using our sophisticated TensarSoil software, can provide everything from free application suggestions to a full design and supply service.
With federal regulations requiring the closing of power plants’ coal ash impoundments, PowerCap provides an ideal opportunity for utilities to deploy solar generation alongside active or retired coal-fired plants. One of the biggest hurdles to utility-scale solar is finding suitable sites with suitable grid infrastructure for interconnection. By nature, this problem is alleviated when solar is sited at an existing or retired power plant and the impoundments have been capped with ClosureTurf®. Utilities benefit from PowerCap generation, from ClosureTurf environmental aspects and from showing communities the commitment to clean energy sources.
Geomembranes are waterproofing polymeric sheets and constitute the most significant group within the geosynthetics. They are used in a wide and growing range of applications (landfills, lagoons, channels, ornamental ponds, …), so Geomembranes are present in Environmental applications, Geotechnical, Transportation, Hydraulic and other engineering works.
